Students enrolled in this course will learn the concepts necessary to become a pharmacy technician.  They will develop foundation skills that are essential to work in a pharmacy.  This will be accomplished by student active participation in the course, which will assist the student to pass the National Technician Certification examination.

Students will learn how to:

Explain the role of the Pharmacy Technician

Define the laws that govern a Pharmacy Technician’s work

Demonstrate competency in performing pharmaceutical calculations

Explain the steps of prescription processing

The counting, measuring, or compounding of drugs to be dispensed

The packaging and labeling of the drug to be dispensed and the repackaging thereof

Identify the most common medications

Correctly remove of drugs to be dispensed from inventory
